Are you struggling to implement meaningful Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) practices in your school? Are you uncertain where to begin or how to navigate the complexities of ED&I work as a teacher or school leader? This exciting book explores what it means to lead on ED&I to ensure all staff and students feel they belong and can thrive. It provides guidance on embedding ED&I in the wider school strategy and shows how a culture of belonging can be created through a carefully crafted ED&I curriculum and the creation of safer spaces within training, coaching and mentoring as well as in the classroom.

Raheem and Rothery reveal how leaders and teachers can adopt an ED&I lens to create a school environment where all belong. They share practical strategies and recommendations for ED&I-specific interventions, including guidance around how to incorporate them into School Improvement Plans. They also reflect on the challenges of leading on ED&I, including having courageous conversations and overcoming resistance. Features include:

  • Actionable strategies adaptable to your specific school context
  • Real-world case studies from diverse schools across England
  • Practical solutions that work within existing financial and time constraints
  • Guidance on listening to and learning from your school community
  • Frameworks for embedding ED&I into school strategy and daily practice as a teacher or leader

Providing readers with a deep understanding of what it means to lead on ED&I, this book will empower school leaders and ED&I educators so they are confident and intentional in working towards a school culture where everyone belongs.
