Industrial explosions can occur anywhere where combustible powders and/or flammable vapours are handled, such as facilities dealing with wood, flour, starch, sugar, rubber, plastics, pharmaceuticals, oil, gas, and other industries. Explosions can lead to loss of lives and colossal costs to companies found culpable for failing to follow safety protocols.

Explosion Safety for Industries presents a set of preventative measures, rules, and standards to mitigate the risk of explosions by preventing potential explosive atmosphere formation. Coverage includes risks and hazards, equipment selection, earthing systems, static electricity, and lightning protection,  among others. This book aims to help those responsible for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of process plants comply with the provisions of international safety legislation. Readers will develop a thorough understanding of the science behind explosions and the methods and measures needed to prevent accidents irrespective of their workplace or industry.

This book is a comprehensive guide for industrial explosion prevention and protection for safety engineers, specialists, and managers as well as for physicists, chemists, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers.

Arvustused

"Estellito Rangel Jr. is an electrical engineer, consultant, researcher, and columnist for a technical magazine in Brazil, who has built a career marked by deep technical knowledge, dedication, and commitment to industrial safety, especially in areas related to explosive atmospheres. Explosion Safety for Industries presents a comprehensive set of preventive measures, rules, and protocols designed to mitigate the risks of explosions and prevent the formation of explosive atmospheres. It is an essential guide for anyone working in potentially explosive environments."

Evanilton Rosa, Business Development Consultant in the Industrial and Export Sector at Petrópolis, RJ, Brazil

"In Explosion Safety for Industries, Estellito Rangel Junior offers a comprehensive guide to all relevant preventive measures, regulations, and standards available to minimize the threat of explosions in industrial environments. If you are interested in all aspects of explosion safety, this book is essential reading."

Mirko Torrez Contreras, Certified Profibus DP/PA Engineer, Explosion Protection Consultant and Trainer, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina

"Explosion Safety for Industries is a comprehensive and practical guide for professionals involved in explosion risk assessment and industrial safety. The book offers a structured approach to understanding the causes and dynamics of industrial explosions, as well as how to implement prevention and protection measures. As a QHSE specialist and technical trainer in ATEX, electrical risk, and lightning protection, I found this book highly relevant to my work, especially regarding the CEI 1127 and Seveso directives. This valuable resource is ideal for engineers, QHSE professionals, designers, and trainers working in high-risk sectors such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, and oil and gas."

Estellito Rangel Junior is an independent consultant on industrial systems, installations in hazardous locations and electrical safety, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He worked for Petrobras (the Brasilian state owned Oil & Gas company) and has over 40 years of experience based on industrial electrical systems design, erection, commissioning and maintenance in large projects such as complexes in the Oil & Gas sector, and participation in expert groups of technical standards for Petrobras, ABNT, API, IEC and IEEE. He was the first Brasilian expert in IEC TC-31 International Electrotechnical Commission Technical Committee 31 - Equipment for explosive atmospheres, where he took part on preparing international standards relating to equipment for use where there is a hazard due to the possible presence of explosive atmospheres of gases, vapours, mists or combustible dusts.
