Thermoelectric Half-Heusler Alloys and Fe2Val outlines the key properties an efficient thermoelectric material should have, covers the structural aspects of Heusler and half-Heusler compounds, and discusses in detail the thermoelectric properties of various families of half-Heusler compounds, including the fabrication and performance of thermoelectric modules based on these compounds. Because many efficient thermoelectric materials are also topological semiconductors, this aspect is considered and explored whether it applies and would benefit the thermoelectric performance of half-Heusler compounds. The book is of interest to everyone working or interested in the field of thermoelectricity and in the development of novel thermoelectric materials. In particular, graduate students, postdocs, and researchers who work in the broad field of Heusler and half-Heusler compounds will find it useful and an indispensable reference monograph.

Key Features:

• Introduces the field of thermoelectricity and its benefits as an energy conversion technology.

• Outlines fundamental electronic and phonon properties a good thermoelectric should have.

• Discusses in details fabrication, crystal structure, and thermoelectric properties of all prospective families of half-Heuler and certain full-Heusler compounds.

Ctirad Uher is Professor of Physics at the University of Michigan. Over the past forty years, he has been involved with the thermal transport in high-Tc superconductors, layered materials, including MBE-grown metallic superlattices and Bi2Te3-based thin films, as well as in the search for new prospective thermoelectric materials within the families of modified lead tellurides, magnesium silicide solid solutions, skutterudites, and half-Heusler compounds.
