They also find it difficult to use AI to reduce the workload for doctors and nurses. Doctors barely use data collected from wearables and home-use medical devices to make diagnosis. As generative AI advances, traditional medical device manufacturers are exploring with open innovation to transform into a software-based business model facing competition from large tech companies and startups. Dr. Nuoya Chen (MBA) was a Marie Curie Fellow for the Horizon 2020 Health related Activity Recognition system based on IoT project at University of Macerata. She worked with Philips Research in 2018, 2019 and 2021 to finish her PhD. She later worked for a medical device startup in China and Philips Industry Consulting. She is currently an associate member of the Royal Society of Medicine while serving for several journals as review editor.
