Presents recent developments in the areas of differential equations, dynamical systems, and control of finke and infinite dimensional systems. Focuses on current trends in differential equations and dynamical system research-from Darameterdependence of solutions to robui control laws for inflnite dimensional systems.
Renowned mathematician Markus (U. of Minnesota and U. of Warwick [ UK]) has contributed to mathematics in the areas of analysis, algebra, and geometry. His text, Foundations of Optimal Control Theory (written jointly with E.B. Lee), has held for 25 years a leading position in the subject of optimal control theory of both linear and non-linear systems. The present Festschrift, on the occasion of Markus's 70th birthday, is divided into two sections: differential equations (23 contributions); and dynamical systems and control science (31 contributions). Markus himself has provided the lead article, "A Brief History of Control." No index. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
