In 1985, the Institute created the Center for Chemical Process Safety primarily to help the chemical industry avoid or mitigate catastrophic chemical accidents. Terrorist attacks had always been a minor element of their concern, but the September 11 events pushed them into the limelight. Researchers from the Center describe a systematic process for identifying, analyzing, and managing a company's security vulnerabilities; and building security activities into environmental, health, and safety processes. A workbook is appended. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
