This book, first published in 1987, assesses serials cataloguing with special emphasis in two areas: the rules by which the cataloguing record is created and the automation of that record. It consists of a series of articles, each dealing with serials work in a different European COMECON country: the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania. Written by serials experts within their respective countries, each chapter presents a unique ‘view from within’.
