"Advances in Pediatric ORL" contains short articles in the form of extended abstracts taken from the "Proceedings of the 8th International Congress of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology", which took place in Oxford in September 2002. These proceedings are published on a CD-ROM and include up-to-date coverage of many important developments in the field of paediatric otorhinolaryngology. Topics related to the ear include articles on "ONE", management of microtia, the genetics of hearing, the development of language, management of the deaf child and mastoid disease. Nose related topics include rhinitis, Waldeyer's ring, choanal atresia, obstructive sleep apnoea and rhinosinusitis. The larynx is covered by a detailed session on management of airway problems and reconstructive surgery of the airway. Articles on CJD, HIV and AIDS, and the multidisciplinary management of children with cranio-facial syndromes are also presented. With the addition of video's and sound files, this publication gives these proceedings a new perspective on "Pediatric ORL". The CD-ROM is fully indexed and has full search facilities. The content is primarily directed at all ear, nose and throat specialists, paediatricians, speech and language therapists as well as audiologists of all kinds will find this a useful tool. The purpose of "Advances in Pediatric ORL" is to present a state of the art picture of many developing aspects of paediatric otorhinolaryngology, with work presented by international experts and researchers in the field.
