Zimbabwean-born Kim Donaldson grew up on a 150,000-acre ranch of unspoiled African bush country, traversed by rivers, hills and valleys, and teeming with game. It is this landscape which inspires Africa: an Artist's Journal. Kim soon swapped his hunting rifle for a camera and a sketch-pad and began to create some of the breathtaking images that are contained within this volume. Reflecting the author's lifelong passion for the wildlife of his native country, these stunning paintings and sketches have an intangible quality of atmosphere that can only be achieved by those who have spent many years in the bush. Crammed with fascinating information about wildlife, culture and history, the journal uses photographs, sketches, maps and excerpts from the author's notebooks and diaries to create a vivid and multi-layered impression of this beautiful continent.
