This book fills the need for a single, consolidated, go-to resource that guides anesthesiologists in all aspects of their careers.  Through the use of storytelling by senior anesthesiologists, it conveys life lessons, clinical pearls, and hard-earned experiences. It provides a "bridge" between these veteran practitioners and the new generation following in their footsteps, presented in a fun and informal style.

Compiled by anesthesiologists with 20+ years of experience, the book is divided into sections that cover themes like communication and educational strategies, professionalism, leadership, career pathways, career advancement, research tips, working with residents, doctor/patient relationships, clinical wisdom, and case management pearls.  It includes stories about memorable cases and personal mentors, and topics such as substance abuse, physician burnout, dealing with medical/legal issues, avoiding complications, working in international medicine, how to find work life balance, financial issues, and many more.

The book's goal is to help the new generation navigate work/life stresses that are unique to anesthesiologists.  There is a lack of good mentors for trainees and younger faculty, and this book fills that gap.
