The book will be focused on the new advances in the design, preparation and application of different hybrid catalysts such as artificial metalloenzymes. The different chapters will cover different important aspect such as computational tools, preparation of artificial enzymes by using noncanonical aminoacids, nanobiocatalysts, protein-cages, enzyme-polymer conjugates, enzyme-metal nanoparticles hybrids as enzyme mimics, or hybrid systems with applications as antimicrobial agents.

Molecular Dynamics studies in the Pursuit of Excellent Artificial Metalloenzymes.- Enzyme-Polymer Hybrids for Chemoenzymatic Catalysis.- Metal Nanoparticles Biohybrids as Efficient Antimicrobial and Antiviral Agents.- Enzyme-Like Activity Artificial Metalloenzymes.- Noncanonical amino acids in the design of artificial metalloenzymes.- Catalysis in Protein Cages.- Lignin- and Cellulose-Based Materials as Potential Platforms for Enzyme Immobilization.- Insights into the Development of Artificial Metalloenzymes.

Jose M. Palomo was born in Coin, Malaga (1976). He received his bachelor degree in Chemistry in 1999 from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (UAM) as a Spanish government fellow. After graduation, he joined Guisans group at Institute of Catalysis (ICP, CSIC) in Madrid to complete his doctoral studies. He received his Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) in 2003. His Ph.D. thesis developed novel highly efficient immobilized biocatalysts for asymmetric transformations and strategies to understanding the biochemical features of lipases. As an EMBO postdoctoral fellow, Jose pursued training in solid-phase peptide synthesis and semisynthetic protein preparation with Herbert Waldmann at the Chemical Biology Department of Max Planck Institute in Dortmund from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, he began his appointment as Associate Research Scientist at Biocatalysis Department in ICP-CSIC. In 2009, he appointment as CSIC Tenured Scientist (Associate Professor) and from 2022 he is A2 CSIC Research Scientist. Jose has published more than 200 articles in high-impact journals (>90% in Q1), with more than 15000 times cited. H index of 55. Index  i10: 150 and I he is in the 2% of scientists most cited in Biotechnology. Research interest are: Protein chemistry, Nanocatalysis, Biocatalysis Nanomaterials, Artificial metalloenzymes, hybrids, Metal Nanoparticles, Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry.
