Opening chapters cover basic concepts of laparoscopy such as abdominal wall and pelvic anatomy, choosing the appropriate position, instrumentation, and principles of laparoscopic suturing. Indications and contraindications for laparoscopic surgery are also covered. Most of the book's nine procedure chapters have an organ- or disease-based approach. The only instrument-based approach is the chapter on robotics. A final chapter addresses complications. Falcone is professor and chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Women's Health Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.
