After moving to California, she received an Associate Degree in Art, with Honours, from Southwestern College. Her first book with Walter Foster Publishing, How to Draw and Paint Floral Scenes in Watercolour, was published in 1998. Through her business, Creative Art and Design Studio, Joan teaches art classes and workshops, gives painting demonstrations, and juries art shows. Her work is collected internationally; has been featured in several books and magazines; and graces numerous product lines for the art, gift, and stationery industries.
