This book aims not only to introduce fundamental biostatistics topics but to explain them through R-project (R-studio). 'R' is perhaps the more used statistical software in the medical field.

It is structured as a 'scientific journey' and comes with a sham yet realistic dataset ready to be analysed.  The dataset along with the R-script can be downloaded from GitHub, and each chapter has dedicated scripts that will enhance the understanding of  R and biostatistics.

Specifically designed for whoever works in the medical-academic environment, this practical guide will help the reader to become familiar with basic to advanced biostatistics topic (descriptive - analysis / regression etc.) and to gain solid knowledge of R.

Mr - Prof Marco Moscarelli, MD, Mres, PhD, currently works as consultant cardiac surgeon and senior scientific researcher at GVM Care & Research, Palermo, Italy.

He earned his medical degree at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata, in 2001 where he subsequently completed  his residency in 2010. From 2010 till 2015 he joined Hammersmith Hospital/NHLI as clinical and research fellow, and  registered for Mres on ischemic remote preconditioning (RIPC) in collaboration with the University of Bristol. During the same period he joined the trial and biostatistic unit at Imperial. In 2016 he returned to Italy and joined the GVM Care & Research group, one of the largest cardiac surgery providers in Europe, with the aim to establish a multi-centric research group. He also completed a PhD Maastricht University (UM) on advancements in minimally invasive cardiac surgery.

His group carried out and published several trials and studies on translational medicine and evidence synthesis.

Honorary Lecturer at Imperial College NHLI and Bristol University, he acts as associate editor of Journal of Cardiac Surgery (JOCS) since 2019 and as reviewer for European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery (EJCTS) and Interactive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ICTVS).

He has published more than 150 articles in peer reviewed international journals.
