This reference set presents contact information (address, phone, fax, e-mail, and URL), activity field, and academic staff for approximately 145,000 institutions: museums, universities, associations, art and antique trade & numismatics, art & antiques fairs, galleries, auctioneers, restorers, art journals, and antiquarians and booksellers. Arrangement is in sections according to these categories; within each section, according to country, in alphabetical order. A worldwide mailing of a questionnaire and intensive research in print and electronic sources resulted in 500 new entries and refreshed information on the old entries. The first two volumes contain the entries; the third volume contains an index of people (directors, curators, presidents and scientific staff of museums), and an index of institutions and companies.
