Nicholas Brownstone received a BA degree in psychology from Cornell University and attended medical school at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson. He trained for over 3 years as a resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery before switching to a career in dermatology. He completed dermatology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA where he served as chief resident. Dr. Brownstone also completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Dermatology in psoriasis, phototherapy and clinical research and a fellowship in melanoma at the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine/Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine. He is the author of The Ultimate Medical Student Guide to Dermatology and is the editor of Clinical Cases in Atopic Dermatitis and Biologic Therapy for Psoriasis: Cutting Edge Treatment Principles.
