How to ensure clean potable water? Hydrochemistry, colloidal chemistry, physics, plus engineering aspects are combined in this book for practical drinking water treatment. Focusing on coagulation-flocculation as a key step in this process, it provides principles, optimisation, and efficiency evaluation, broader theoretical background and practical aspects.

Petr Filip graduated at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague. At present he is with the Institute of Hydrodynamics, Czech Academy of Sciences. After a period devoted to rheology, he is now interested in water treatment.

Martin Pivokonský, is a distinguished researcher and an expert in the field of water treatment. Currently, he is a director of IH CAS, he leads a research team focused on drinking water treatment at the Institute, and supervises M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. His current fields of interest encompass application and innovation of diverse water treatment technologies such as coagulation-flocculation, adsorption, or membrane filtration, with an aim to remove various pollutants of both natural and anthropogenic origin. His scientific merit has been evidenced by receiving several awards, for instance, Preamium Academiae (2022), or the Award of the President of the Czech Science Foundation (GACR) for outstanding results in grant projects in technical sciences (2021). Besides his scientific engagement, he has vast experience in the optimisation and design of treatment technologies for practice, and provides expertise and consultancy in the field of drinking water treatment.
