The author Michael Naseby has spent over 50 years in Parliament, firstly 23 years as Michael Naseby MP for Northampton South, including being elected Deputy Speaker in the House of Commons, and latterly 28 years as Lord Naseby in the House of Lords. He chose Naseby as his title name due to his life-long interest in Cromwell and the Civil War, and the history of the great battle being associated with his constituency there. Accessing Parliamentary records and archives, and visiting original sources, Lord Naseby brings a fresh perspective to Cromwells influence on political life from his own times right up to the present day with the demise of the hereditary peers in the House of Lords.
