Catherine Kennedy has a background as a family solicitor. She is also an academic and an Accredited Mediator. She is a member of Resolution, the Family Mediators Association, the Law Society, the Association of Law Teachers and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Catherine has been a lecturer at Staffordshire University, a senior lecturer at University of Huddersfield, and currently teaches Law of Tort and Land Law at Arden University. She won an Extra Mile award during her first year of teaching.
