Josep Lluís Aguiló (b. 1967, Mallorca) is a Catalan-language poet known for his richly imaginative and culturally layered work. He debuted with Cants darjau in 1986, followed by a remarkable return in 2004 with La biblioteca secreta and Lestació de les ombres. His acclaimed collection Monstres (2005) earned the Ciutat de Palma Joan Alcocer Prize and the National Critics Prize for best Catalan poetry. In 2008, Llunari won the Jocs Florals de Barcelona, and Aguiló was named Poet Laureate of Barcelona (20082009). His poetry, blending traditional forms with postmodern eclecticism, has been widely anthologized and translated.
