The first of 14 projected volumes (in English at least) that will compile keys to all the plant families of Siberia, based on earlier and newly collected herbarium material. The efforts of specialists from various institutions collaborated on the project, which was set up by the Scientific Coordination Committee on Botanical Problems of Siberia. They provide information on the taxonomy and chorology of 160 species from 32 families of Pteropsida, Gymnospermae, and Monocotyledonaea, and include drawings and maps of distribution ranges for some taxa. The Russian original, Flora Sibiri was published by Nauka in 1988. This volume is distributed in the US by Enfield. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
