This is a translation of the collection of Forty Narrations (Arba'in) by the renown Sufi theoretician and hagiographer of Nishapur Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami (d.412/1021). It contains a short biography of the author with analysis of the text and accompanying notes in order to help the reader appreciate the key notions and ideas.
