This is the first book where top researchers focus on presenting new research proposals in soil science. All the authors contributing to the book have a solid background and experience in specific fields of soil science, allowing them to propose the critical lines of future development in their respective and particular paths of cut-edge investigation.
The primary audiences for the work are scientists/researchers working in these fields, as well as students interested in the views from top scientists on recent and future trends in the area, and all those in the overall society desiring to be aware of possible pathways for the future of soil science.
Introduction chapter.- Antibiotics as emerging pollutants of soil
ecosystems.- Rare Earths in Soils.- Impact of agricultural wastes on
environment and possible management strategies.- Organic carbon management
and the relations with climate change.- Agricultural soil management impacts
on soil microbial communities.- Antibiotics, other emerging pollutants, and
pathogenic microorganisms in raw and treated sewage sludge reaching soils.-
Remediation of PTEs contaminated soils by washing treatment with
biodegradable reagents.- Natural barriers to antibiotic entry into the
trophic chain: some examples of the role of soils and by-products.-
Salt-Affected Soils.- Beyond the obvious: exploring peat vibrational
spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR) data using principal component analysis on transposed
data matrix (tPCA), Store Mosse bog (Sweden).- Application of biochar in
agricultural soil green remediation and sustainable development.- Frontier

Avelino Núñez-Delgado, Ph.D., was born in O Barco de Valdeorras (Ourense province, Galicia, Spain). Currently, he is working as Professor at the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Engineering Polytechnic School, campus Lugo, University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), which was started in 1996. He previously worked in France (University of Montpellier) and Spain as Postdoc Researcher. He was listed among the 2% of the top world researchers by the Stanford ranking and among the world top researchers by Researchgate, Expertscape, Web of Sciences, and other world research classifications. He is Book Editor for Springer Nature and other top scientific publishers. He is Book Series Editor for Springer Nature, Editor for various top research journals (with roles of Chief Editor, Associate Editor, Special Issues Editor, Managing Guest Editor, and Guest Editor), and Reviewer for national and international research projects.
