"This book presents an interdisciplinary approach to educational contexts across cultures for the study of verbal and written linguistics in order to broaden students' communicative and problem solving abilities"--
International contributors in communication studies, translation studies, and linguistics shed light on major challenges in translation pedagogy. Material is presented in sections on modes and methods of translation teaching, translation competence and evaluation, and theoretical reflections on translation pedagogy. Some specific subjects considered include financial translation, the role of translation in language teaching, translator intercultural competence, the role of theory in translation degrees at Spanish universities, and adapting translator and interpreter training to the job market. A new method for grading scientific and technical translation educational activities is also described. The book will be of interest to scholars, teachers, and graduate students in translation and translation pedagogy. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
