Southside of Glasgow, November 2002. A high-profile murder coincides with the unexplained deaths of several young Roma men in Govanhill. Newly arrived in the Division, DS Campbell Morrison finds himself excluded from the murder investigation by his intransigent DCI. Tasked instead with mentoring Asif, a uniformed officer with aspirations to be in the CID, the pair find themselves investigating crimes that nobody seems interested in.
