This book elaborates on current practices and policies relating to the research, development, dissemination and application of therapies aimed at improving degenerative ageing processes and extending healthy, productive longevity. It explores the intersection of longevity science, technology and society, and addresses issues such as R&D and educational policies, governance, regulation and the accessibility of emerging therapies.
It examines the practical implementation of policies for longevity therapy research, including the factors that hinder or encourage beneficial development. Key topics include the definition and evaluation of clinical benefits, regulatory frameworks and methodological issues in geroscience research. The book also considers the practical benefits of longevity studies and emerging therapies, with a focus on safety, efficacy, standardisation, and universal distribution.
Written by world-leading experts, this book makes a valuable contribution to the analysis of methodological and policy challenges, and the devising of biomedical and societal solutions to improve healthy longevity for the population.
