Angela Black is a distinguished historian with a B.A. in History from the University of the West Indies and an M.A. in History from the University of Liverpool, where she specialised in International Slavery. Her dissertation, Legal Emancipation to De Facto Emancipation: The Rise of Plantation Labourers in Antigua 18341940, showcases her expertise in the historical development of her homeland.



Currently teaching at St. Anthonys Secondary School, Angela has dedicated her career to making history engaging for young learners. Angela has been a vocal advocate for the inclusion of Antigua's history in educational curricula, emphasising the importance of teaching local history to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation among students. Her work on this textbook reflects her commitment to enriching the historical education of the next generation in Antigua and Barbuda.
