Home should be a place where we can truly be ourselves, a place of safety and refuge from external pressures. It reflects our individuality and authenticity in every corner, and shows the effects of a life well-lived: doorknobs shiny with use; tabletops bearing the faint scars of watermarks; a sofa slightly sagging in the middle from evenings spent lounging.
Through Piglet in Bed's six guiding principles, you can build a home for intentional living: a space to rest, wallow and retreat. Sections include odes, essays, and recipes by chef and author Sophie Wyburd. Discover:
- Tips for the messy host - The ultimate chicken pie - How to be completely useless to everybody: take a long bath - How to create a great tablescape - The lost art of picnicking
With a chapter dedicated to each room in the house, Homes for Living will equip you with simple tips and tricks to create a home that celebrates the imperfections of our lives and enables you to express yourself in a low maintenance, sustainable way.
Jessica Hanley founded Piglet in Bed in 2017 from her mothers garden shed in rural West Sussex, starting with a small range of linen bedding and a belief that home should be a place of comfort, ease, and authenticity. Drawing on her earlier career in PR and marketing, where she saw how a clear, holistic brand vision could foster real community, she set out to create high-quality, natural homewares that were as practical as they were comforting. Today, the brand has grown into a full lifestyle offering spanning low-maintenance bedding, sleepwear, and homewares that are made for living, and designed to be used and loved every day. Jessica now lives in Chicago with her husband, two little boys, and their dog, Henry.
Rebecca Mason lives in London with her husband, three children, and their dog, River. After a career in finance, she stepped away to spend more time with her family and pursue her lifelong love of writing. When she isnt collaborating with her sister on lifestyle books, shes working on her debut novel. Shes happiest by the sea, at a live gig or walking through the countryside with River in tow.
The recipes were created by Sophie Wyburd, a cook, food writer and presenter from South London. Formerly heading up the food team at Mob, you can now find her recipes in her debut cookbook Tucking In, and in her bestselling newsletter, Feeder. Her recipes have been featured in The Times, Good Food, Sainsburys Magazine and the Financial Times, and she regularly appears on Saturday Kitchen. She also hosts sell-out supper clubs all over London, and co-hosts the Ill Have What Shes Having and A Bit of a Mouthful podcasts.
