Discover how to bring polar animals to life in 6 easy steps. Award-winning artist Jonathan Newey teaches you to transform simple shapes into majestic polar bears, snowy reindeer and awe-inspiring whales. Choose from an albatross mid-flight, a tottering penguin chick and much more.

There are 25 different animals to create, in a variety of poses and styles. Each project starts with a few basic outlines and progresses into a finished tonal drawing, and a final coloured version shows you how to develop your drawing even further. Perfect for beginners, as well as budding artists, youll be amazed how easily you too can draw polar animals with this inspiring guide.

Arvustused

They might not be colourful but the Polar Regions contain some of our most popular animals. Stately polar bears, irresistible penguins, cute seals and mighty whales all call these chilly areas home (or at least visit them) and this book shows you how to draw them.

Get those pencils sharpened ready for some step-by-step lessons and by Christmas you will be designing your own greetings cards. For those not au fait with the How to Draw series these books all follow a similar pattern making it possible to draw even quite complex subjects. The first step is shown in grey, with each subsequent step adding details in brown. Once the outline is complete there is a picture showing it shaded in graphite, with a final option shown in coloured pencil.

Note that the term beginner is not present; anybody daunted by the final two steps might be better off getting a book on learning to draw before tackling this title. This book will appeal to anybody who is already familiar with the basic techniques but wants to have a go at drawing something new. There are 25 animals to tackle, including lynx, walrus, wolf, orca and narwhal as well as smaller subjects such as lemming, kittiwake, hare and arctic tern. This is a useful addition to a popular series. -- Rachel A Hyde * myshelf.com * I love these guides! They really are step-by-step instructions on how to draw animals. This one is for all those polar critters - think penguins, seals, walrus, polar bears etc. Starting with a few basic shapes the book guides you from start to finish and really helps you get the correct proportions for all the animals. Once you have your outline it then shows two options for a coloured or back and white finish.

I'm not a natural artist but this book really helped me create pictures of animals that were instantly recognisable! -- Angela L Paull * Amazon * Clearly and simply set out steps. The use of the bubbles to define the initial shape of the animals is extremely helpful. Then building them up to define the animal more carefully. Finally filling in the details. Clearly and simply set out in a way that encourages even reluctant drawers to undertake quite intricate designs. -- Diane Whale * Amazon Customer Review *
