Join Hupo on another fantasy graphic novel for independent readers as he travels through the land of Yip, where his courage will be put to the ultimate test as he battles his very own worst fears...

Hupo is off on an airship adventure, but this time he's sharing the decks with Zimmy, a peculiar person who looks, sounds, and smells, just like Hupo! They make their way to the Doom Lagoons, a place where you can trap your worst fears below the waters so you never have to be scared again. But things don't go to plan, and after hundreds of years of fear is released into Yip, it's up to Hupo and the suspicious Zimmy to save everyone from the horrors of the Doom Lagoon!

Arvustused

The drives to discover and to become a legend lead to great adventure. Hupo the dog-rabbit meets with the old adventurer Humdingo aboard his airship. A juicy setup follows as Humdingo relays the tale of the Doom Lagoon and a witch's magical gem housed there that keeps terror-eating beasts called Fears at bay. Zimmy, a newcomer who bears a strong resemblance to Hupo, joins the crew. How will each of them react to the dangerous beasts, and what are Zimmy's real motives? [ ...] Empowering messages about standing firm in the face of insecurities and learning to manage (not eliminate) one's fear see this story to a winning conclusion. New readers may feel a bit unfamiliar with returning characters-Hupo's gained a heroic reputation across the land of Yip-but the adventure itself is straightforward enough to easily enjoy the ride. A real humdinger, full of heart and pluck. * Kirkus Reviews * Hupo's endearing curiosity and Partridge's bubbly, quirky set pieces have great potential to amuse and engage middle grade readers in search of light adventure. Created in a narrative and visual mode familiar to lovers of the "Hilda" series, this is a solid secondary addition to graphic fantasy collections. -- Emilia Packard * SLJ Reviews *
