for SATB unaccompanied Kling no, klokka! is a traditional Norwegian carol, skilfully arranged here for mixed voices by Frank Havrøy. The piece has a compelling folk feel, with glissando and chromatic passages contributing to a harmonically rich soundscape. Beneath the leading melody, the sound of tolling bellsemulated by the repeated vocable 'gång'musically illustrates the title. Lively and joyous, the carol can be performed in both Norwegian and English.
Frank Havrøy's extensive background across multiple art forms makes him one of Norway's most diverse and dynamic composers, continually exploring new approaches to artistic development and expression. A graduateand later professorof the Norwegian Academy of Music, he composes in a wide range of genres, from electronic to vocal and instrumental music. His works have received international recognition, including a Grammy nomination for the album Kind (Ensemble 96, 2011).
Alongside his work as a composer, Havrøy has enjoyed a successful international career as a baritone, touring extensively with the acclaimed vocal sextet Nordic Voices and performing as a soloist both in Norway and abroad, including at Carnegie Hall in New York. He currently serves as Musical Director of the chamber music festival Glogerfestspillene in Norway, as well as Musical Director of the Trondheim Vocal Ensemble at the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra.
