Educational parameters in the training of oncologists (cancer physicians) have now broadened to include hematology as well, thus creating a hybrid specialty that attempts to synthesize these two areas into a cohesive whole. This is reflected by the double-boarding of hematology and oncology fellows and the offer for dual membership in both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology. This is an especially auspicious time for a resource like this to debut in the literature, as nearly all training fellows are double boarding in hematology and oncology(see above).
