Theodore Maxwell is the proud owner of the admired Renton Manor, which he inherited most unscrupulously from a line of older brothers. But his prestigious dynasty is very much in danger for there are secrets held amongst the Maxwell household.

His daughter, Cecilia, begins to question how her mother died when she had been a young child. Determined to find answers, she ventures into the attic where clues have always been hidden, waiting to be discovered. But the murder of her sisters lover at present creates more questions than answers.

From the bleak garden she walks in, to the cold air she breathes, Cecilia not only feels the barren hibernal winter but feels compelled to unearthing the mysteries at the manor which are more concealed and hidden than the promised spring. However, it all comes with a price to prominence - untangling ostentatious layers and stripping grandiose bare becomes essential if to discover who committed murder and why. Can Cecilia Maxwell discover the secrets surrounding her mothers death while shedding light on murder before the Maxwell name becomes condemned in a rich and proud Victorian society? Does Cecilia Maxwell have the courage to accept this ruin?
The Maxwell Fortune is Hayley Openshaws first novel. Having started writing short stories recreationally, Hayley now mainly focuses on historical crime or supernatural novels. She says story writing begins with the most palpable and intense part of the story, and then ideas stem from there. Hayley finds her imagination comes naturally and is inspired to commit her thoughts creatively to print. Hayley lives in Buckinghamshire.
