Saddiq was a religious poet and judge in the rabbinical tribunal of the Jewish community of Cordova, Spain, in the middle 12th century. His only major work still extant is translated as The Book of the Microcosm from the Hebrew Sefer ha-'Olam ha-Qatan , itself a poor translation from a presumed but lost Arabic original. Haberman, a specialist in the philosophy of religion and Middle East languages based in New York, translates and appends Horovitz' 1903 Hebrew edition, with its German introduction. Distributed in the US by Associated University Presses. Annotation (c) Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
