THE QUEEN OF SCOTTISH SAGAS A heartfelt historical read about survival and long-buried secrets from Sunday Times bestselling author Evelyn Hood!## Must-read for fans of Catherine Cookson, Dilly Court, Rosie Goodwin and Donna Douglas 📚

Can they forge new futures after the death of a patriarch?

Paisley, Scotland, 1929

Isla McAdam is summoned to Paisley by a lawyer following her husbands suicide, only to discovers that she was never truly married to Kenneth McAdam, a shameless man who had been leading a double life.

Ainslie, his daughter by his lawful wife, warns Isla to stay away from their family, but Isla has nowhere else to go and moves with her two children into a tiny room of the run-down tenement building Kenneth left her.

Kenneth's unscrupulous actions have left very little to support either of his families and when tragedy strikes, Ainslies mother, Catherine, becomes increasingly unstable, creating havoc for both Isla and Ainslie.

Despite being thrown together in unexpected and distressing circumstances, Isla and Ainslie gradually realise that they can offer one another support. But when secrets from Islas past spill out, her current life becomes intolerable, and both Isla and Ainslie face life-changing choices that lead them in unforeseen directions.

Sunday Times bestselling author, Evelyn Hood was best known for her Scottish family sagas set in her hometown of Paisley (Renfrewshire) and on the Clyde Coast, where she also lived. Her seven-volume Priors Ford books are set in a modern-day fictitious village in Dumfries and Galloway.

Throughout her distinguished career, she published more than 40 novels, numerous short stories, as well as plays, pantomimes, musicals, and poems. She also authored "Forward by Degrees," a commissioned history of the University of Paisley, and "Mill Memories; Interviews with Former Employees of Paisley's Thread Mills," which preserves the legacy of the towns textile industry. A former journalist, Evelyn wrote under several pen names, including Eve Houston, Elizabeth A. Webster, Louise James, and Evelyn Steel.

Passionate about literature and the arts, Evelyn frequently adjudicated competitions, gave public readings, and mentored emerging writers. She was also deeply involved in amateur dramatics in Paisley, directing musicals and plays.

Evelyn Hood passed away in Ayrshire in 2023, but the legacy of her writing continues, inspiring a generation of saga writers and touching readers hearts worldwide.
