Papers from a December 2008 workshop, 109 in all, are presented here. Most papers address the topic of modeling, with only eight on optimization. Some specific areas examined include an adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm, research on Chinese museum design based on virtual reality, numerical simulation of gas drainage in low-permeability fissured coal, and simulation of traffic micro-circulation organization in heavy traffic networks. Other subjects treated are modeling and simulation of car following behavior based on fuzzy interference, evaluation modeling and optimization of investment options, analysis of route choice behavior in a seamless transfer urban rail transit network, and a Chinese patent infringement retrieval model based on the structure of patent claims.
