STARRED REVIEW! "In a wide-angle, graphically inspired picture book originally published in Ukraine, Romanyshyn and Lesiv combine history with meditative insights on the theme of movement. Paired to propulsive, minimalist scenes that combine simplified images of many-wheeled, winged, and floating objects with horizontal lines, arrows, and other iconography indicating progressions in various directions at increasing speeds, the spare narrative points to technological highlights, from prehistoric foot coverings to modern spacecraft... For all its brevity, this title provides a profound exploration of the fundamental notion that everything moves." * Booklist * "Good for whetting young appetites, highlighting different areas kids can pursue and look more deeply into." -- Betsy Bird * A Fuse #8 Production (A School Library Journal blog) * In this Ukrainian import, husband-and-wife team Romanyshyn and Lesiv use bright, retro infographics to examine the concept of movement A wide range of information follows, encompassing the invention of the wheel 6,000 years ago, ancient paths traveled for trade and pilgrimages, forms of exploration (space and seafaring), a consideration of time travel, and much-needed advice to rest and reflect by writing in ones travelogue Vocabulary definitions abound... The action-packed graphics themselves nearly spill off the page, and the italicized text seems to be in perpetual motion... One figure recursreminiscent of the Belgian cartoon character Tintin. Sophisticated graphics, laden with information. * Kirkus Reviews * "This high level concept book takes a very broad look at the idea of motion using gorgeous, infographic-style artwork to convey copious amounts of material... The dual level text, poetic ruminations in all black caps supplemented by in depth information in a precise blue font, make it possible to enjoy the book as a dreamy read aloud or to dive into more detail as the various topics tickle individual interests... I really enjoyed reading this truly unique book." * Youth Services Book Reviews *
