Our Voices, Together speaks to the power we all have to stand up against war, violence and inequity. Written in rhyme and illustrated thoughtfully, this picture book acknowledges the realities of children in conflict zones and suggests tangible steps that we can take to speak up.
Thought-provoking yet hopeful, Our Voices, Together encourages empathy and critical thinking, and shows children how they can be activists and allies in promoting justice and peace. This book is a call to action for children aged 4 to 9 years who wish to make a difference in the world.
Inda Ahmad Zahri is a surgical doctor who spends much of her time writing and illustrating for children. She grew up in Kuala Lumpur, studied in Bristol and made a home in Meanjin / Brisbane only to move to Riyadh (for now). Indas books have been longlisted and shortlisted for multiple awards, including The Children's Book Council of Australia, Speech Pathology and Diversity in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand awards.
Syd Fini is a Brooklyn-based artist known for his captivating visual storytelling. Born in war-torn Iran during the IranIraq conflict, Syd found solace indoors, drawing inspiration from his favourite movies and animations. This early passion led him to become a storyboard artist for feature films by the age of 18. He continued to evolve as a director of animations and a graphic novelist. Syd shares his artistic life with his wife, a talented puppet maker and painter, in New York City.
