Pavement Mechanics and Performance represents the latest advances in mechanistic modeling for highway and airfield pavements, pavement material characterization through advanced technology and pavement performance prediction. This Geotechnical Special Publication includes 36 technical papers that were presented at the GeoShanghai Conference held in Shanghai, China from June 6-8, 2006. The book is divided into three sections: Pavement Mechanics, Accelerated Pavement Testing, and Performance and Pavement Foundation. Imaging analysis, non-destructive testing and innovative laboratory and field testing techniques are used in pavement material characterization. Mechanistic modeling of pavement structures includes the dynamic analysis of pavement responses under falling weight deflectometer (FWD), non-linear analysis of stress-dependent pavement foundation through general finite element (FE) program, and analysis of airfield pavement under critical gear configurations. Several papers focus on the evaluation of pavement performance through various accelerated loading testing (APT) facilities around the world.
