This timely volume explores the transformative potential of education in building a more peaceful, just, and compassionate world. At a time when humanity faces persistent challenges such as conflict, inequality, and socio-cultural division, it brings together leading scholars, educators, and practitioners to examine peace education from philosophical, pedagogical, and practical perspectives.

Spanning a wide range of themes — from normative philosophies and ethical foundations to innovative pedagogical models, digital activism, and conflict transformation — the book provides a holistic understanding of peace education as both a theoretical discourse and a practical framework for action. Each chapter offers unique insights into how peace can be nurtured through curriculum design, teacher education, media, digital spaces, and community engagement. It also discusses the assessment and evaluation of peace learning, adolescent conflict management, and socio-cultural approaches to conflict resolution, with reference to Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), such as Ahimsa, Dharma, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, and Satyagraha, as well as global frameworks such as Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

This volume will be an invaluable resource for educators, researchers, policymakers, peace practitioners, and teacher educators who are committed to fostering a culture of peace through education. It invites readers to rethink the role of education not merely as a means of knowledge transmission but as a powerful instrument of social transformation — shaping individuals and societies grounded in empathy, nonviolence, justice, and global solidarity.
