Building upon the success of the first edition, the Pigments from Microalgae Handbook – Second Edition continues to set the benchmark for quality, clarity, and comprehensiveness in this rapidly evolving field. Carefully updated and expanded, this new edition consolidates the most pressing guidelines and cutting-edge developments in scientific research, technological innovation, and practical applications related to microalgal pigments.
Each chapter has been thoroughly revised to reflect the latest scientific advances, covering the fundamentals of pigment science, including their occurrence, distribution, and biosynthesis. Updates to analytical protocols and application strategies ensure readers are equipped with the most current and robust tools in the field.
In addition to its scientific rigor, this edition features new chapters that explore engineering solutions, process technologies, economic feasibility, and environmental impact related to pigment production. It also opens important new conversations around emerging themes such as regulatory frameworks, social dynamics, digital innovation, and intellectual property associated with these valuable natural compounds.
Presented in an accessible and well-organized format, this handbook is an indispensable resource for researchers, academics, and professionals in biochemistry, food chemistry, industrial microbiology, and biotechnology industries seeking to deepen their expertise or drive innovation in microalgal pigment applications.
