Adding to its many publications since 2001 on preventing, preparing for, and responding to radiological or nuclear terrorism, the Council offers emergency responders and medical centers guidance on developing radiological response plans that include the efficient screening of a population for internally-deposited radionuclides, decontamination procedures, and treatment by decorporation therapy. Quietly researchers mention that these procedures would also be effective after radiological or nuclear incidents caused by the profit motive. Among the topics are settings in which people may become contaminated with radioactive material, radiological triage and screening guidance, the rapid determination of internal contamination, the medical management of internally contaminated people, long-term follow-up, and scalability.
