Focusing on the design aspects of ports and harbor structures, including shipyards, this book details various Indian codes and compares them with prevalent international standards. It covers the estimation of loads acting on the system, as well as the design of slipways, marine travel lifts, and ship lifts

Focusing on the design aspects of ports and harbor structures, including shipyards, this book details various Indian codes and compares them with prevalent international standards. It covers the estimation of loads acting on the system, as well as the design of slipways, marine travel lifts, and ship lifts. Sediment transport and the movement of shoals are illustrated with typical examples for green port development, including capital dredging and disposal. The book also explains procedures and documentation required for environmental clearance, along with EIA/EMP guidelines and case studies on rehabilitation and retrofitting. Additionally, it includes spreadsheets for various design calculations such as beam, pile, crack width, and fixity depth.

  • Covers planning, analysis, design, construction, retrofitting, rehabilitation, and environmental impact of ports and harbors
  • Provides a comparison of Indian codes with international codes on load combinations, crack width and deflection limits, corrosion rates, and more
  • Discusses failure case studies to offer insights for designers and eliminate misconceptions and design defects
  • Includes an exclusive chapter on pertinent Indian codes
  • Illustrates loads, analysis, design, construction, and repair with case studies and code compliance for practicing engineers

This book is intended for graduate students, practicing engineers, and professionals.
