Gerson and Colletta (both of the Department of International Relations, George Washington U.) argue that allowing corporations to make profits off of conflicts will lead to a more efficient and successful management of peacekeeping initiatives. Claiming that the United Nations and other international institutions have completely failed to alleviate humanitarian emergencies following wars, they see the solution in the privatization of every function not directly related to the maintenance of collective security (i.e. the military and criminal justice apparatuses). They envision the creation of a Peace Transitions Council that would have sole authority to provide "enlightened leadership" in harnessing the "fruits of a nascent partnership between the public and private sectors."
