This book provides readers a foundational understanding of both proteomics technology and virology. It describes how proteomics can impact viral research and delivers detailed examples of how these two fields have intersected to afford greater insight into viral structure and pathogenesis.  Specific topics include proteomic analysis COVID-19 infection, proteomics and the flue, proteomic characterization of HIV infection, structural characterization of viruses using proteomics, proteomic applications in vaccine development, and more.

This is an ideal book for undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs, and research scientists in both the fields of proteomics technology and virology. The book is written in such a way that scientists who specialize in either of the main topics can understand and recognize how they can benefit from a collaborative effort across the research areas.
Proteomics Technology.- Basic Virology.- Proteomics in the Diagnosis of

Dr. Timothy Veenstra PhD, is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and an Assistant Director of Master of Medical Science in the College of Medicine at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Dr. Veenstra accepted a senior scientist position at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratories in WA where he focused on development and application of proteomics technologies. He was then recruited by the National Cancer Institute to direct a new effort in proteomics focused on identifying proteins important in the development and progression of various cancers. He has been in academia for the past nine years teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2024, he was given the Distinguished Faculty Member award by the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy. His research interest includes proteomics particularly as it pertains to biomarker discovery. He has co-authored over 370 peer-reviewed articles and is the author of the book Proteomic Applications in Cancer Detection and Discovery.
