From an October 1995 conference in Trieste, Italy 28 research papers and literature surveys consider the theory of elliptic, parabolic, and hyperbolic problems and their related applications. Among the topics are the existence and non- existence of solutions for semi-linear and quasilinear elliptic equations and systems, qualitative properties of solutions for elliptic and parabolic equations, maximum and comparison principles for linear and quasilinear operators, elliptic bifurcation problems, higher-order semi-linear elliptic equations, and applications to population biology models.
