A May 2004 symposium brought together researchers and practitioners from various disciplines including real-time systems, control theory, networking, industrial applications, QoS, and embedded systems. Papers from the symposium are presented here, in sections on real-time communication, multiprocessor scheduling, embedded design trade-offs, resource management, schedulabilty analysis, feedback performance control, and robotic applications. There are also sections on embedded and real-time middleware, automotive applications, operating systems, embedded system design and performance, energy management, sensor networks, and wireless and ad hoc networks. Some specific topics include real-time video analysis on an embedded smart camera for traffic surveillance, and adaptive reservations in a Linux environment. There is no subject index.
