This book presents an analysis of historical changes of sea level based on the latest observational and monitoring data, predicts the amplitude of SLR and extreme sea level events in coastal China, North Indian Ocean, and Red Sea in the next 100 years based on CMIP6 data. It also reviews over 280 scientific publications, analyses and assesses coastal disaster events associated with SLR in the China Europe Sea Route (CESR) region, including storm surges, flooding, coastal erosion, saltwater intrusion, and the significant impacts of coastal wetlands. It also provides natural-based coastal adaptation measures. This Joint Assessment Report is the outcome of a collaborative effort between European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) and National Marine Data and Information Service (NMDIS) on the status of knowledge on SLR and the associated coastal hazards (from physical to ecosystem aspects) along the CESR.
Introduction.- Historical sea level data.- Observed coastal changes.-
Sea level rise projections.- Sea level rise risks to coastal environment.-
Coastal adaptation.- Conclusions and Recommendations.
