The second edition of this annotated bibliography for nurses and other health care professionals provides the first step in identifying literature related to nursing research. It has been updated and expanded and comprises more than 2000 non-evaluative annotations under three headings: sources of literature, research methods and the background to research in nursing. Part 1 includes references to literature searching, libraries and available tools. Part 2, which forms the major part of the text, covers all aspects of research methodology and part 3 includes, for example, literature on the development of nursing research, the role of government, funding, research roles, education and research priorities. Approximately 50% of the literature cited comes from North America, there is some from Europe and the remainder is from the United Kingdom. Nursing literature features prominently but many references are also taken from the work of other relevant disciplines. All nurses, and professionals from other disciplines, now have research as integral part of their courses and, in many instances, it also forms part of senior nurses' job descriptions. This book therefore will be of interest to practitioners and managers who encourage the implementation of research findings, and to educators, researchers and librarians in the field throughout the English speaking world.
