The volume of literature available relating to nursing research methodology is considerable and this resource book is designed to assist in its identification. It comprises three parts: part 1 - sources of literature, identifies many of the tools available for searching the nursing literature throughout the world, including online databases. Part 2 - methods of inquiry, covers most elements related to research methodology from the nursing literature together with that of other disciplines where appropriate. Part 3 - background to research in nursing. There are over 1300 annotations which are non-evaluative in nature, and most of the literature is from the 1980s onwards. Just under half comes from North America, some from Europe and Australasia and the remainder from the United Kingdom. The aim has been to identify the most important and recent literature which will then enable readers to follow up other sources. Three extensive sections are included: research texts, ethical issues and teaching nursing research. In addition to the annotations, lists of suggested textbook readings are included in most sections which will guide readers to appropriate places in research texts and other books. Relevant entries in the Department of Health's Nursing Research Abstracts are also included.
